Fifa President Gianni Infantino Address AU

Fifa President Gianni Infantino last Sunday addressed the 32nd Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union (AU) heads of state and government summit held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

During his address Infantino stated his commitment to developing football on the continent and called for the same from the various heads of state and government gathered. He stressed the importance of the sport as a unifying force.

Over the past two years Fifa has disbursed $112 million annually towards development of the sport in Africa.

Infantino also took the opportunity to address the problem of corruption and the importance of Fifa’s partnership with the AU in tackling the scourge.
