Kenyan Club Owner Accuses Coach of Match Fixing

The owner of Home Boyz football club, Celophas Shimanyula, has accused Ugandan team coach Paul Nkata and his assistant of fixing matches, as well as conspiring with players to lose games.

"We thought the poor run was just a normal one but we ... found out that our coach has been placing bets on games. He has been paying some of our players between 50,000-200,000 shillings ($500-$2,000) to lose games," Shimanyula told reporters.

Police have launched an investigation into the scandal. However, it is thought that Nkata has returned to Uganda in a bid to escape arrest.
