South Sudan to Host International Matches in Uganda
With the national stadium in Juba under reconstruction, South Sudan’s Football Association (SSAF) has announced that its international fixtures for 2019 will take place in Kampala, Uganda, as of March.
Explaining the reasons behind the decision the SSFA said Uganda was chosen on the basis of cost and proximity, with work of the national stadium likely to take up to a year to finish. The SSFA President Francis Amin told BBC Sport “We also have several South Sudanese who stay in Uganda and can always come to cheer the teams."
The first South Sudanese fixture to be hosted in the Ugandan capital is a 2019 U23 AFCON qualifier in which the team will face Tunisia.
