President Kenyatta Bids To Improve Kenya’s Investment Credentials

In this week’s State of the Nation Address President Kenyatta set out his ambition for the country to be established as one of the 50 more attractive investment destinations globally by the end of 2020.

According to the World Bank Ease of Doing Business Index 2019 Kenya has improved its ranking from 78 to 61 globally. Within the region Rwanda continues to place highest at 29.

In meeting this ambitious goal the President said he would continue with reforms and issued a warning on corruption. Several cabinet members have been implicated in recent scandals, however the President has stated that they will not be asked to step aside unless they are formally charged.

Among the measures on the President’s agenda are the creation of an SME credit guarantee scheme and reforms to improve service provision and increase border security.
