Kenya’s Gor Mahia To Name New Coach

Kenya’s Gor Mahia are set to name their new coach ahead of their upcoming match against Burundian side Aigle Noir next weekend.

Local reports suggest that English-Finish coach Steven Pollack may have been secured to replace Hassan Oktay who has resigned from his position. An announcement is expected on Friday, ahead of the team travelling to Burundi.

Pollack previously coached Ghanaian side Asante Kotoko. He applied for the position of head coach at Gor last year, coming third in the interviews.

Speaking on the development club chair Ambrose Rachier has been quoted as stating, “After the resignation we have made calls in search of a new coach who has since agreed to come over to agree on terms but up to now we have not agreed on any terms but we aim on sealing the deal and unveil him on Friday.”

Oktay is understood to have resigned his position after just one season for personal reasons.

The match against Aigle Noir is part of the CAF Champions League preliminaries. Sunday’s fixture will be followed by a return match in Nairobi later this month.
