Germany’s Bayern Munich Announces School For Ethiopia
German football team Bayern Munich is set to open a soccer school in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, having signed an agreement during the visit of German state officials to the country last week.
Speaking to VOA the team’s leader of media operations Holger Quest is quoted as stating, "Two-thirds of the Ethiopian population is younger than 25 years. We will support the Ethiopian Football Federation (EFF) in terms of young development and coaches education programs."
"We want to share our knowledge to help football grow across all continents and nations," he added.
The academy is expected to train 30 to 40 youths aged between 8 and 10, giving them the chance to join the team’s youth academy upon completion.
FC Bayern Munich has existing schools in China, Thailand, Japan, Singapore and the US and has previously hosted its Youth Cup in Nigeria in 2018 and 2019.
