Kenyan Government Approves FKF Budget For 2019 AFCON
Cabinet Secretary for Sports, Culture and Heritage Amina Mohammed has approved a Sh244 million budget proposed by the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) to fund preparations for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nation. The tournament is scheduled to take place in Egypt in June and July of this year, with Kenya’s Harambee Stars among those to have qualified.
New Sports and Social Development Fund chairman Jackson Tuwei also confirmed that Harambee Stars players will receive the Sh50 million pledged to them by Deputy President William Ruto. Ruto made the pledge during the qualifiers last year, stating that if the team could secure a seat for the 2019 tournament they would be rewarded with the Sh50 million.
