Tanzania To Chair SADC From August
The 39th Southern African Development Community (SADC) Summit is set to take place in Tanzania in August. During the event President John Magufuli of Tanzania will assume the position of SADC Chair, taking over from President of Namibia Dr Hage Geingob. The position is held for a year on a rotational basis.
Tanzania last hosted the summit in 2003. The 2019 summit will involve various preliminary meeting of government representatives ahead of the official event to be held on August 17 and 18. The All SADC Industrialisation Week will also take place in parallel.
According to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Prof Palamagamba Kabudi, preparations for the summit are already underway.
