Kenya and US Strengthen Bilateral Relations
Officials from Kenya and the US have been engaged in discussions to improve bilateral relations between the two countries, signing a framework agreement to deliver economic prosperity and enhance peace and security.
Kenya’s Foreign Minister Monica Juma has described the talks as focusing on prosperity and economic development, stating "this ambitious trade and investment portfolio must be able to help build wealth for our people. It must create more jobs, it must create decent living, it must contribute to the prosperity of ourselves and the world."
Security issues and defence cooperation were also on the agenda, with Dr Juma holding talks with US Defence Department officials at the Pentagon.
A press conference is expected on Wednesday evening, during which the full outcome of the bilateral strategic dialogue will be shared. Presidents Uhuru Kenyatta and Donald Trump previously met in August 2018 during the former’s visit to the US.
