Five Dead as Sudan Agrees Transition Deal

At least five protestors have been killed at the hands of armed groups in Khartoum as the military and opposition reach an agreement over the transition to civilian rule and elections. It is not yet clear who is responsible for the killings.

The agreement between the military and opposition groups concerns the structure of the authorities and their powers during the transition period, to encompass a sovereign council, the cabinet and the legislative body. Discussions regarding the period of transition and the composition of authorities are ongoing.
