Drones Held At Entebbe Due To Security Threat
Around 250 drones are being held at Entebbe International Airport on concerns that they could be a threat to National Security.
According to the Commissioner in charge of Customs at the Uganda Revenue Authority while 442 drones were imported in the last financial year, only 191 were registered.
"An average of four drones enter the country every day but many are still held at the Customs department for scrutiny because they are deemed to be a threat to National Security," Armstrong Turyakira stated.
Uganda is yet to draft an official policy relating to the use of drones in the country. However, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has demarcated some no-go areas for the unmanned aircraft, including State House in Entebbe and Kampala, the Entebbe International Airport and the Presidential Ranch in Gomba.
