Uganda Records New Ebola Death
A suspected Ebola victim has died in Masaka, Uganda. While the authorities await the results of blood samples sent for analysis to the Uganda Virus Research Institute in Entebbe, the patient had displayed a number of Ebola-like systems.
Officials have advised citizens to be vigilant and refer those with symptoms to nearby health centres. Meanwhile, the alarm has also been raised after a Congolese trader died just a few days after attending the Mpondwe market to buy fish. Those who are known to have had contact with the trader are being vaccinated and monitored in a bid to combat any further spread of the disease.
The latest fatality follows the deaths of three Ugandans in Kasese District last month. In the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) more than 2,500 cases and 1,600 fatalities have been confirmed since August 2018.
