Kenyan Police Make Trafficking Arrests

Police in Kenya have arrested three suspects and rescued 25 Burundian women thought to be the victims of human trafficking.

The operations took place in Ruiru, just outside of Nairobi, where the women are believed to have been held ahead of transit to Asia.

The suspects have been named by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) as Mercy Kaaia, Lydia Nyambura and Susan Nyambura Ng'ang'a.

Kenya has been identified as a source, transit and destination for human trafficking, according to a 2018 report by the US State Department.
