Ugandan Lecturer Beaten At Makerere University

Senior lecturer at Makerere University Dr. Ronald Luwangula is being treated at Mengo Hospital in Kampala after he was allegedly beaten by military police soldiers.

Luwangula claims to have come under attached after a lecture he conducted on Thursday last week. As he returned to his office he encountered three military police soldiers who beat him. It appears the soldiers has been dispersing students attending a rally nearby.

The Makerere University Academic Staff Association (MUASA) have since called for the demilitarisation of university spaces.
