Uganda Airlines Secures Airbus Order

The Ugandan government has confirmed payment has been made for two Airbus A330-800s in support of the growth plans for Uganda Airlines.

The national airline is due to commence commercial routes in June. Previous reports had suggested that Uganda was at risk of losing the order after it missed a February payment deadline.

Uganda has now paid the $20 million balance, with further payments due later this year. Delivery is expected in October 2020.

The Works Ministry has also secured funds to complete payments for two Bombardier CRJ-900s, as well as deposits on an additional two carriers scheduled for delivery in July and September 2019.
