IMF Revises Tanzania 2019 Growth Estimates Down
The International Monetary Fund has revised its growth forecast for Tanzania down to 4 per cent in 2019, with inflation expected to stand at 3.5 per cent.
The projection represents a significant drop from the estimated 6.6 per cent growth recorded in 2018 and the previous projection of 6 to 7 per cent for 2019.
The World Bank recently identified the major drivers of growth in the country as the substantial investment in infrastructure projects underway such as the Stigler’s Gorge mega hydroelectric dam and the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR)
Government forecasts put 2019 growth at 7.3 per cent.
