COSAFA Women's Cup to Spring Into Soccer Action In South Africa

South Africa is hosting the COSAFA Women's soccer cup at Gqebhera in the Eastern Cape province from September 28- October 9, 2021. The tournament will comprise of 12 teams from Southern Africa. The Council of Southern African Football Associations (COSAFA) tournament comprises group stages made up of three groups of four teams each. Group winners and the best runner-up amongst all groups advance to the semi-finals.

South Africa's women's national soccer team Banyana Banyana, has a very busy schedule as COSAFA defending champs. Besides participating in the COSAFA Cup, they are also participating in the Aisha Buhari Cup in Nigeria where their game will kick off today, September 17, 2021 while also planning their participation in the 2022 Africa Women's Cup of Nations (Awcon) when qualifying will start in October 2021.

Meanwhile, other participating COSAFA teams include among others, Zimbabwe, Botswana and Malawi teams who are preparing to set up camp in Gqebhera in the coming days.
