Kenya Names Final AFCON Squad

The final Kenyan team for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament has been named.

The 23-man Harambee Stars team will take part in the competition that kicks off on June 22 in Cairo, Egypt.

Injured defender Brian Mandela did not make the squad, nor did Clifton Miheso, Christopher Mbamba and Anthony Akumu.

Kenya is in Group C. Their first match will take place on Sunday June 23 against Algeria, followed by matches against Tanzania, on June 27, and Senegal on July 1.

Before the team departs for Egypt they will play a friendly match against the DR Congo team in Madrid.

The squad is as follows:

Goalkeepers: Patrick Matasi, Faruk Shikalo, John Oyemba 

Defenders: David Owino, Musa Mohammed, Bernard Ochieng, Joseph Okumu, Joash Onyango, Eric Ouma, Philemon Otieno, Aboud Omar.

Midfielders: Victor Wanyama, Ismail Gonzalez, Dennis Odhiambo, Eric Johannah, Francis Kahata, Paul Were, Johannah Omolo.

Strikers: Ovela Ochieng, Ayub Timbe, Michael Olunga, John Avire, Masud Juma.
