Uganda Cranes Prepare for 2019 AFCON

The Uganda Cranes have entered residential camp at Kabira Country Club, Bukoto, as they prepare for next month’s Africa Cup of Nations. Two practice games have been scheduled for May 23 and May 25, with the full 26-man squad set to be named on May 21.

The AFCON tournament is scheduled to take place in Egypt, with Uganda featuring in Group A along with Egypt, the DRC and Zimbabwe.

The team’s first match is scheduled to take place on June 22 against DRC, after which the Cranes will face Zimbabwe on June 26 and Egypt on June 30.

Speaking on the upcoming tournament Cranes coach Sebastien Desabre has stated, “our first objective is to get out of the group, then after that we do our best and see… The group is difficult but we also have our strength.”

The team is expected to depart for Abu Dhabi on May 27, where they will enter a further camp for three weeks and play an additional two practice fixtures ahead of the tournament.
