Tottenham Racism investigation “inconclusive”

English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur say their investigation into the racist scenes that played out over the weekend when the North London side hosted Chelsea, has been “inconclusive”.

Play was stopped during what was otherwise a fantastic clash, with Chelsea taking three points back to Stamford Bridge thanks to a Willian double.

Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger could be seen motioning to others that he could hear monkey chants directed at him.

Spurs say they are continuing to “exhaustively investigate” the incident.

“We have engaged lip readers to study the footage and contact Chelsea for further information from their players.  The police will be reviewing our evidence alongside us”, the club said in a statement.

Tottenham say the technology in their new stadium allows them to “track every fan”, and that anybody caught and found guilty of racism will immediately “receive a lifetime ban”.

Meanwhile, police have confirmed the arrest of a Chelsea fan for a racially aggravated public order offence against Spurs’ Korean striker, Son Heung-Min.
