Kenya Senate opens impeachment trial against DP Gachagua
The Senate began the impeachment trial against Kenya's Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Wednesday, just hours after a three-judge bench of the High Court ruled that it was in the public interest for the constitutional process to proceed unhindered.
The National Assembly voted to impeach DP Gachagua last Tuesday, on 11 charges which included corruption, undermining the government and stirring ethnic hatred.
Mr Gachagua has denied all charges.
