Besigye bows out of Ugandan presidential race
Uganda's opposition leader Kizza Besigye has announced that he will not stand in the upcoming presidential election.
He made the announcement while speaking to supporters at the Forum for Democratic Change offices in the capital, Kampala.
Local media reported that the supporters took away the podium while demanding that Mr Besigye picks presidential nomination forms.
There had been uncertainty whether the opposition leader will vie for presidency.
He has in the past challenged President Yoweri Museveni in four elections.
NTV Uganda tweeted a video of Mr Besigye saying he will lead the country in "plan B" as he "can never leave the struggle".
