Ethiopian PM Mediates In Sudan

Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has been in Sudan to try and mediate talks between members of Sudan’s opposition Forces for Freedom and Change and the governing military council.

His visit comes following the suspension of the country by the African Union (AU).

The AU had previously given the ruling Transitional Military Council three months to oversee a transition to a civilian-led administration. However, following an incident on Monday in which the violent break up of a protestor sit-in by security forces resulted in the deaths of more than 100 people the AU suspended the country with immediate effect.
