DRC President To Head To US

Recently elected President of the Democratic Republic of Congo Felix Tshisekedi is set to head to Washington in the US early next month.

During his visit Tshisekedi is expected to meet with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to discuss economic and security ties between the two countries. It has not been announced whether he will also meet with this US counterpart President Donald Trump.

The US recently imposed sanction against officials from DRC’s electoral commission on the basis of concerns regarding the recently concluded elections. However, the country has not questioned Tshisekedi’s victory.
