Finland Hails Tanzania’s Efforts to Fight Corruption
Finland’s foreign minister Timo Soini has applauded moves taken by the government of Tanzania to tackle corruption. His comments come following a meeting with Tanzanian minister Dr Augustine Mahiga during his two-day visit to the country this week. Soini also praised the government’s support for refugees in the region.
A statement issued by the Tanzanian government reads, "As such, the two leaders have agreed to continue the cooperation in addressing security challenges, including trafficking of humans and narcotics drugs and terrorism."
During his visit Mahiga also met with a number of business representatives to discuss investment opportunities in the country, as well as Finland’s former President Martti Ahtisaari who praised Tanzania’s efforts to tackle conflict in the Great Lakes Region.
