Kenya’s Chief Justice Criticised For Political Show

Kenya’s Chief Justice David Maraga has come under criticism for his appearance at a rally in support of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Both President Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto addressed the rally, which took place in Kisii.

Among those to criticise Maraga for what has been interpreted by some as a display of partisanship is Senate Minority Leader James Orengo who is quoted as saying, "There is no day in the history of this country that a CJ attended a political event. In terms of decorum, it is a very bad manners.”

Kenyatta and Ruto were in Kisii County to launch new facilities at the referral hospital along with opposition leader Raila Odinga.
