Kagame offers condolences to King Charles in phone call
Rwanda's President Paul Kagame says he has had a personal phone call with King Charles III in which he offered his condolences following the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.
"Rwanda looks forward to working together with King Charles III to move the Commonwealth agenda forward in service of all our citizens," President Kagame said on Twitter.
President Kagame hosted then-Prince Charles in June during the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, where the monarch expressed his "personal sorrow" at the suffering caused by the slave trade but stopped short of an apology.
The British royal added it was up to individual states to decide whether they wished to remain members of the organisation.
