Uganda: Museveni makes home fitness video in office
As promised during an address to the nation earlier in the week, Uganda’s president, Yoweri Museveni, has made a fitness video showing people how they can exercise without leaving their homes while in quarantine.
The video is part of efforts being made to encourage people not to defy the lockdown and stay at home, in order to further contain the spread of the coronavirus.
In the video, the president, who is barefoot in a large office, starts jogging around the room, explaining the importance of warming up.
He then proceeds to do 30 press-ups as his press team count them out for him.
Outdoor exercise was banned in Uganda on Wednesday, after videos emerged online of people exercising in groups, appearing to flout the social distancing guideline in place.
The president is often keen to advertise his health. Last year he told the nation of how he had lost 30kg after deciding to focus more on his fitness.
Last year he retraced the 200km he and his forces marched through the Luweero triangle during the 1986 war that brought him to power.
