Kenya recovers $20m worth of stolen assets

Noordin Haji, Kenya’s director of public prosecutions, has told the press that the state has recovered $20m worth of stolen assets from corruption cases.

However, this figure only makes up around 1 per cent of the estimated $2bn of assets stolen through corrupt means.

A string of high-profile corruption cases has led to numerous prosecutions in the Kenya in the last year, but as of yet no one has been convicted.

President Uhuru Kenyatta publicly challenged Mr Haji and his team to make 2020 the year they secure their first high-profile conviction on Monday.
