Tanzania says gunmen kill 6 in ambush near Mozambique border

Unknown gunmen killed six farmers near Tanzania’s southern border with Mozambique, a
senior police official said on Wednesday, amid growing concerns over Islamist militants in a poor region where foreign companies are developing gas deposits.

The news of the deaths is the latest example of Tanzania’s downward spiral into lawlessness and and chaos. With police forces having funds restricted and corruption rife it becomes increasingly difficult to the government to maintain law and order in the country.
